The Monarch Bay community is a great place to find furnished rentals as it's considered on of the top ocean front gated community in the Dana Point area.  The location couldn't be more ideal which is situated just south of Laguna Beach with homes that can offer sweeping ocean views with close proximity to the beach.  One of the best features of this community is the direct access to the beach.  There is plenty of parking as many either take their golf carts or drive down the parking area and then take their beach items directly on to the sand.  There is a great Beach Club located here so make sure you check that out when staying here.  Living here for a month of more is great since it offers a 24 hour guard gate which offers top level security.  Also,

One of the charming neighborhoods in the upper Dana Point area is a small community called Harbor Heights.  The easiest way to find it is to take the Golden Lantern street up from Pacific Coast Highway and head north to a street called Dana Woods. The Dana Knolls neighborhood offers a very unique place to live and reminds me of what living in Dana Point must of look like 50 years ago.  The homes are really cute, often single level with good size front and back yard and the large majority of these properties are custom built to their own unique style. The location is one of the best as it's within close proximity to the 5 freeway while also being a short distance to shopping areas like Costco and the Ocean Ranch shopping center in Laguna Niguel.  As with most real estate in Dana Point, inventory is super tight right now so don't expect a lot of options in this neighborhoods.  On average only 4 to 5 homes come up for lease here in recent years so act quickly if you find a nice home at a good value.

One visit to the Capistrano Beach area of Dana Point and you will fall in love with the unique charm of custom homes that range from the historic 1920's homes that overlook the ocean.  When driving through the area you will notice one prominent street that is "Camino Capistrano" where some of the best bluff front properties can be found.  This area is commonly referred to as "Capistrano Bluffs" due to the name of the street and the area where it's located.  A typical starting price for a home located on the bluff is around $5 million dollars with some properties priced just below this number if it's smaller and in original condition.  When looking at homes online on this street it's important to understand that there are homes located on both sides of the
