Capistrano Beach Beachfront Homes

Dana Point has many unique areas located within the city that include Capistrano Beach and Monarch Beach. Capistrano Beach is a small section of that is located just north of San Clemente and west of the 5 freeway. This section of Dana Point includes homes that are located just blocks to the ocean front on a huge cliff that overlooks the ocean. At the bottom of this cliff are beach front homes that sit directly on the beach as pictured below.
This area is very reminiscent to many of the Malibu beach front communities that offer homes that are located very close to each other. There is a mixture of mega-mansions and older historic beach homes that are located on a small 50 foot wide piece of land. The neighborhood is often referred to as Beach Road or Capistrano Bay and can only be entered through the guard gate if you own or rent a home in this community. There is a large number of rental homes in this area that offer seasonal rentals for those looking for an alternative to staying in a hotel. The city has made several changes to this area in recent months which include prohibiting the practice of having beach fires on the sand. This was a popular practice here with small fire pits that were located directly on the sand. Another change in recent months is taxing owners 10% of the rent for owners who rent out their homes on a weekly basis here. This is important to keep in mind if you are thinking about renting a home here since most owners will add the extra 10% fee to the top of the rental price.
It's important to know that for the most part the surf in this area is very calm and rarely has high surf like other parts of Dana Point. The ocean does bring in rocks to this location so the beach can be filled with rocks depending on the time of year. The location is fairly remote with local restaurants and shopping located in the main part of town which do require a car and normally takes about 5 to 10 minutes. The train does pass through the backside of the community which can be a little noisy, especially late at night. The beach is really ideal for those looking to get away from the busy city life and enjoy the simple life by the beach.
