Historic Beach Front Homes

Dana Point is a city that is rich in history and dates back to the early 1920's when some of the first homes were built here.  The downtown and Capistrano Beach area is the most populated area for these older homes that are often built in the Spanish architectural style.  Located on the beach are a small handful of historic homes that are considered beach front since they literraly sit next to the sandy beach.  This area of Dana Point is often referred to as Beach Road or Capistrano Bay.  The community has changed dramatically since the 1920's as many of the homes have been built on the empty lots with huge Mediterrean and Contemporary style homes.

Beach Road still has 5 historic homes that still exist on this beach front street and have a lot of charm and character to them.  These are commonly referred to as Doheny homes as the Mr. Doheny was the original builder of these homes.  Some of the unique features of these homes include wood beam ceilings, central coutryards, Spanish clay roof tiles and red brick fireplaces.  These homes have survived all the hardships of having a home located on the beach and are considered some of the true gems here in Dana Point.  If you are interested in learning more about historic homes in the Dana Point area please don't hesitate and call us today at 949-606-4114, we are here to help!
