Owning a home that's located on a double lot holds a lot of value.  We have seen some really iconic homes that were located on 2 lots be subdivided into two different homes which is really a shame since part of the charm of the home is having the extra land space to really enjoy the Southern California weather and ocean views.  There are still a few homes left that have not been subdivided and still located on double lots. Sometimes finding an ocean view home is not good enough.  The city of Dana Point has many different neighborhoods that offer a wide variety of views from small peek-a-boo to panoramic ocean views.  For those looking for an unobstructed ocean view homes you either have to looking for an ocean front home that can be very expensive and unaffordable to most home buyers.  There are several locations in Dana Point where unobstructed ocean views can be found without breaking the bank.  Here are some of the places we recommend looking.

First, the Lantern Bay Villas complex is a great place to start for finding places in the $1 to 2 million range.  For the most part, there are several condos in this complex that can offer partial to panoramic ocean views.

The Villas at Monarch Beach is an exclusive neighborhood that fronts the Monarch Beach golf links golf course.  The neighborhood was built in the early 1980's and in two sections known as the Villas I and Villas I community.  Located in the guard gated "Monarch Beach" community, The Villas I neighborhood was the first to be built and offers home that sit right on the golf course and do offer views of the Pacific Ocean and just steps away from the luxury St. Regis Hotel in Dana Point.

The ocean view street in Dana Point, California known as "Golden Lantern" is one of the most picturesque locations in all of Dana Point.  The location is really ideal as it sits at one of the highest points on the Dana Headlands mountain and looks directly down over the Dana Point Harbor and Pacific Ocean.  The views are simply breathtaking as one can see the many boats and yachts in the harbor as well as the coastline looking towards San Diego.  The street of Golden Lantern mainly has homes located on the north side of the street with the best views located on the upper levels.  There are a few select properties located on the south side of the street that literally look like that are sitting on the cliff's edge overlooking the water.

One of the upscale neighborhoods in Monarch Beach is a community called "Marquesa."  The Marquesa community dates back to the late 1980's when some of the first homes were built here.  The homes occupy the immediate area as you enter through the guard gates and built in the Mediterranean architectural style.  These are very popular home since many of the properties here will be located next to the Monarch Beach golf links course and offer a combination of ocean, sunset and golf course views.  What makes this community very attractive is the price point with many of the homes listed for sale for just under one million and currently goes as high as $1,295,000.

The Pointe Monarch community is a luxury community in Dana Point that has a very nice ocean view homes.  The community is one of the newer communities in the Monarch Beach area of Dana Point with homes built 10 years ago.  The homes have a really unique beach close location that has direct beach access by going through the tunnel that runs from the St Regis Hotel to the beach.  The best ocean view homes are those located on the front row and on the street "Via Corsica."  All of these homes will have great golf course views of the Monarch Beach golf links that sits in front of the St Regis hotel.  The lower number homes on this street tend to have the best ocean views.
