Dana Point Craftsman style homes with ocean views are best found in the South Strand community in Dana Point.  There are a couple locations in Dana Point that offer stunning Craftsman style homes like the Bal Harbor and Capistrano Beach neighborhoods but don't offer any views of the Pacific Ocean.  Since the inventory of the Craftsman architectural style is very limited your best bet for finding ocean views homes is the brand new community called The Strand.  

The Strand is divided into two sections with luxury ocean front homes situated on the North Strand and ocean view homes located in the hills in the South Strand community.  A brand new Craftsman style home has been built in the South Strand that offers wonderful ocean views as pictured below.

Dana Point has some wonderful ocean view homes built in the Mediterranean architectural style.  Some neighborhoods are more prominent in this architectural style and knowing where to look is the key.  One of the first places to start your search is in the Monarch Beach area of Dana Point.  By far, this is the best place to find high end Mediterranean style homes.  The Monarch Beach area is the newest area of Dana Point and is home to many luxury communities that are often gated.  We recommend the following communities.

Located next to the Ritz Carlton hotel is the luxury community called Ritz Cove.  The neighborhood was built in the last 20 years and that is predominately all Mediterranean style homes.  Homes normally start in the high $2 to low $3

The Monarch Bay Terrace community is a great place to find ocean view homes in the Dana Point area.  This is a great area filled with a combination of older and newer homes that overlook the ocean.  The large majority of homes in this area were built in the early 1970's and are often single level homes.  Not all homes in this area have ocean views as the lower the priced homes often have small city light or canyon views.  Price point for non-view properties currently starts at just under $1.4 million with ocean view homes starting at around $1.6 million.

What makes these homes so desirable is the location.  The community is set next to the city limits of Laguna Beach and a short distance to the sandy beach.  Commuting to work is very easy from this

The Ritz Cove community has some of the best panoramic ocean views in this ocean front location.  Oringally built with a connection to the luxury St Regis Hotel that sits adjacent to this community, the homes are grand in style and built with the 5 star resort in mind.  All of the homes in this community will have some kind of an ocean view as the streets have been terraced upwards to maximize the views for all the properties.

All the homes are located on Ritz Cove Drive are located within one to five rows back from the ocean.  The first row is considered ocean front as the homes face the ocean and typically have a greenbelt walkway or Monarch Beach golf course in front of them.  Real Estate prices typically will be priced the lowest on the top row and

The Capistrano Heights community is located in the upper section of the Capistrano Beach area just above the 5 freeway.  The main section of the Capistrano Beach area is located just west of the 5 freeway and offers beach close custom homes.  Capistrano Heights is a small area that occupies four streets and often has peek views of the ocean.  This area is often confused as part of the city of San Clemente since streets located above these 4 streets fall into the boarders of San Clemente and often referred to as the "Harbor Estates" area of San Clemente.  The Heights offer a nice mixture of one and two story single family homes that are often located on one way streets.  They offer easy access to the 5 freeway and the Ralphs shopping center located next to

Some of the first homes in the new South Strand development has just finished construction and are currently being offered for sale.  The Strand at Headlands is one of the newest developments in the Monarch Beach area of Dana Point with two separate sections known as the "North Strand" and the "South Strand."  The North Strand is the ocean front section of the community with many homes in existence for several years.  The community offers a combination of ocean view and ocean front homes in a community where all homes are within a 2 to 3 block radius.

The South Strand is located in a separate area that features five rows of ocean view homes that overlook the ocean and the North Strand development.  The South Strand has it's own private guard gated

The Lantern Village area of Dana Point offers many ocean view properties for sale.  The Village area itself covers many different neighborhoods from luxury communities like Lantern Bay Estates which offers a guard gated entrance that is within walking distance to the Dana Point Marina and the beach.  There are also several condo buildings in this area like Lantern Bay Villas and Las Mariansas that offer great ocean views.  All the communities in the Lantern Village offer a downtown Dana Point location that is close to the many shops that line Pacific Coast Highway.

The central Lantern Village area is located on the east side of Pacific Coast Highway and can offer great views of the ocean as pictured above.  These homes are located on a gradual hillside

Crystal Cove is an ocean view community near Crystal Cove park in the Lantern Village area of Dana Point.  This is a popular area that is located on a hill just above Pacific Coast Highway with homes overlooking the park with wonderful coastline and ocean views.  The views are mainly to the south with the bluff front Marriott Hotel and coastline starting from the Doheny Beach area and continuing down past San Clemente.

The Crystal Cove Park is a long stretch of grassy area with a walking trail around the park.  At the very far end of the park is a fenced in dog park area which also offers views of the ocean.  This is a public park that is free for residents to enjoy and located very close to the downtown Dana Point area

Monarch Cove is a very small and intimate community in Dana Point that offers homes with commanding views of the Monarch Beach golf links and Pacific Ocean.  The homes were first built in the year 2000 and completed in 2007.  These are large luxury estate homes that all feature over 6,000 square feet of living space with ocean and golf course views as pictured below.

To enter the community you first have to go through the Ritz Cove guard gated community.  This is located next to the Ritz Carlton Hotel and is home to ocean view and oceanfront homes that sell between $4 to $20 million dollars.  The general public can park next to this community and take the beach access that goes in front of these luxury properties.

I had the pleasure this weekend to show a great ocean view home in the Niguel Shores community that is currently on the market for $1,125,000.  My client was looking for an ocean view home in a secure gated community with enough of a front and backyards for her dogs.  The property was a perfect fit and was located in the Seaterrace community in Niguel Shores where you will find nice ocean view attached town homes.
