It seems like everyone in Southern California wants to own a home by the beach or at least be able within walking distance to the beach. Dana Point is no exception that offers a wide range of properties that are an easy walk to the beach from these various neighborhoods. Real Estate prices will vary a lot from one and two bedrooms priced under $500,000 to luxury homes listed up to $20 million dollars. Here is a quick guide on where to look if you want to walk to the beach from your Dana Point home.
First, the Ritz Point community is a great place to start. Here you will find both detached single family homes as well as residential condos. Expect to find 3 bedroom homes in this community starting around $1.6 million dollars for an approximate 2,400 square foot home while ocean view properties currently start at just under $1.8 million. There is also a condo community within the guard gated of Ritz Point called Monarch Hills condos which currently start at just under $420,000. The location is really great with a walking path that starts at the edge of the community which is actually the Monarch Links golf course. As you wonder through the golf course there are beautiful grounds and small bodies of water to catch your eye as it leads you directly down to the beach. Start to finish is about 10 to 15 minutes depending on how fast you walk with the trails leading under Pacific Coast Highway so there is no need to avoid any cars on the road.
Another great option is the Monarch Bay community located in the upscale Monarch Beach area. The land lease buyout for these homes is just nine months away so there is a lot of anticipation for this to happen. How it works is next year you will be able to buy the land at a 35% discount of the assessed land value that is generated this year. Real Estate prices are still relatively low for a beach front community with homes starting at $2.7 million dollars. What's great about this community is that it's an easy stroll down to the beach with a large parking lot located there as well. The best part is there is a fabulous Monarch Bay Beach Club located there that is currently under renovation. This is a great place to enjoy some drinks or food located right on the beach. There is a membership for this beach club which is around $120 for the year.
Finally, the Niguel Beach Terrace condo community is probably the best value for those looking for a residential condo with a location that is within steps to the sandy beach. The city of Dana Point in the last 10 years have developed steps that are just outside this community that lead directly down to the beach. It's so easy to walk to Stands Beach which can be done in 5 to 10 minutes depending on how fast you walk. Condos prices are actually pretty affordable considering the location with 2 bedroom condos starting $675,000. The only drawback to this complex is that the bedrooms can be on the small size but many come with outdoor terraces and plenty of guest parking. Of course, if price is no object then beachfront properties located in the Strand at Headlands and Beach Road neighborhoods offer the quickest path to the beach.
